Autumn holiday programme following improvements at Alma Park in Gelsenkirchen
Gelsenkirchen, 16 October 2019
Germany's largest indoor leisure park has grown in the heart of the Ruhr region. Alma Park in Gelsenkirchen opens from 10:00 to 22:00 during the school holidays.
Covering around 9,000 m2 in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf, Alma Park now has a mini golf course, a trampoline park, a new live escape room and a virtual reality escape experience unique in the Ruhr region.
Visitors can play a carefully designed 14-hole indoor mini golf course. Next to it, a 500 m2 trampoline park opened last year. The new live escape adventure “Das Geheimnis der 666 Passagier” was developed and built with a Cologne stage-set company and is now welcoming visitors. Another new attraction brings an escape room into the virtual world of Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft's successful game series. Equipped with a VR headset and controllers, players must escape a vast pyramid with up to four fellow participants.
The autumn holiday programme includes unlimited laser tag from 10:00 to 15:00, Monday to Friday.
About Alma Park
Alma Park was founded in 2013 by Andreas Althoff, Jens Haltermann and Dirk Podubrin in the spacious buildings of the former Alma colliery in Ückendorf. Initially operating as Sportpark Gelsenkirchen, a multisport venue with paintball, laser tag and bubble football, it added more attractions over the years. In 2017, it became Alma Park and adopted mining-themed surroundings throughout the venue. It now has ten activities, four live escape rooms and an adjoining food and drinks area. More than 30 staff welcome over 110,000 visitors a year, with the park open 365 days. Weekends and the days before public holidays are particularly popular, and the varied activities appeal to different ages and interests.
