Alma Park stands on the former Alma colliery site in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf. Germany's largest indoor leisure park offers something to do throughout the year. Its mining-themed setting brings together more than ten experiences across around 10,000 m2.
Visitors from the Ruhr area and beyond can try laser tag, paintball, adventure golf, trampolines, Bubbleball, Poolball and more. Sport, action and fun are at the heart of the park, which is a popular choice for children's birthdays, stag and hen parties, company events and days or evenings out with friends and family.
If energetic sports aren't your thing, there's another option. Alma Park offers four live escape rooms for people who enjoy patience, persistence, observation and logical thinking.
Think it sounds too simple: get locked in, solve a few puzzles and stroll out within sixty minutes? It isn't quite that easy, unless perhaps you're Sheldon Cooper.
What makes our rooms special? They carry the Unique Live Escape seal and were created with close attention to detail. Their puzzles belong to their stories and aren't simply copied from another room. Each of the four live escape rooms has a different theme, giving visitors from across the Ruhr area plenty to choose from.
Step away from playing alone at your computer and bring friends or family along. Our VR experiences take gaming into a shared, immersive setting. Put on a headset and find yourself somewhere else: perhaps escaping from a pyramid or reaching the hideout of a mythical figure. Objects and hidden clues help you progress, and some games take you through several locations. Teamwork matters. Look around, examine what you find and work out how to interact with it. You might need to combine objects to reveal a new item or clue, interpret a message, or solve a puzzle to discover a code or password.
A group from Wuppertal travelled to Gelsenkirchen to try a live escape room and make a friend's birthday memorable.
“We wanted to give our friend something more exciting than an ordinary evening out, so we booked an escape room. We'd heard about them but weren't quite sure what to expect. As he's a huge horror fan, The Saw Massacre was the obvious choice. The team gave us a friendly welcome at the desk, and check-in was quick and straightforward. We were told someone would collect us from the bar area. We'd arrived early enough to enjoy a relaxed drink first.
Soon a friendly member of staff took us to the escape room area. After a clear introduction to the story and rules, we were ‘locked in’ and ‘chained up’ as part of the game. I won't spoil the details: you need to experience it yourself. We all had a great time, especially the birthday boy. The atmosphere, logical puzzles and carefully designed rooms made it a real highlight. We'd thoroughly recommend a live escape room at Alma Park. It was an evening we'll remember.”
